Have a Play? Submit it today!

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

Zero Hour Theatre is NOW accepting play submissions for its next season!

We are interested in material that runs no longer than 90 minutes and can be performed as a one act. Any genre or style will be met with equal consideration.

All scripts should be submitted to zerohour.director@gmail.com no later than September 30, 2010. Scripts will be reviewed by the Board of Directors and one play will be chosen to produce in the summer of 2011. We will assign you a dramaturg to help with script development and rewrites in order to make your show the best that it can be, and that process will take place throughout the fall and winter.

Rough drafts are acceptable, so don’t hesitate to send them! We are not able to compensate writers at this time, but we will supply funding to cover the workshop and production fees. We look forward to reading your work, and thank you for checking out Zero Hour Theatre!

Fringe ‘10, Here We Come!

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

Well, folks, it’s official! Zero Hour Theatre will be returning to the Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, D.C. this summer!

We will be producing award-winning playwright Stephen Spotwood’s delightfully dark 7 Lessons On Suicide, a pitch-black comedy that asks: In a world where everyone is clamoring to end it all, why bother living?

Our specific performance dates are TBA, but the festival itself will be July 8-25, 2010. Mark your calendars, and contact us if you’re interested in getting involved with the production!

What’s New With Us

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

We hope that everyone enjoys their holidays as much as we have been so far!

Recently, the Board of Directors had their annual meeting, and there are some highlights we thought we would share with you. Here’s what’s new with us at ZHT:

-We will be applying to take part in next summer Capital Fringe Festival. If accepted, this will mark our third year in a row at their digs in Washington, D.C. We have chosen our script and will be announcing the title as soon as our ducks are in a row. For now, we’ll just say that it’s something we’re very excited about.

-We are currently accepting any and all play submissions to be filed for consideration for future workshops and performances. Complete drafts are preferable, but not necessary. If you have even just an idea for something and would like to get in touch with us, please feel free! Our company thrives on original works, and we’re happy to consider all that we receive.

-New photographs were recently added for our most recent show, The Foley Artist, and they can be found under the Shows section of this website.

-ZHT is currently looking to collect the contact information of any theatre artist who is interested in working with us now or in the future. If you are interested in getting your feet wet, please send your name, how you’d like to help, and the best way to get in touch with you to us and we’ll add you to our list.

-Any and all comments, questions, or submissions should be sent to zerohour.director@gmail.com.

We look forward to hearing from you, and hope that you have very happy holidays!

3 Weeks to Submit!

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Hey, writers!

Three weeks remain to submit your plays to us!  One script will be selected to perform at next year’s Capital Fringe Festival, and some others will be chosen to workshop.

You DO NOT have to submit a complete and final draft to be considered.  Rough drafts and even outlines are acceptable as we will have plenty of time to work with you on the development process, which will include assigning you a dramaturg and hosting readings of your work.

Please send all scripts (and any questions or concerns) to zerohour.director@gmail.com by midnight on September 30.

We look forward to reading your play!

Calling All Playwrights!

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

Have a script you’d like to see brought to life?
We want it!

Following its successful runs of The Foley Artist and The Frustrations of Stoker Pratt, Zero Hour Theatre is looking for new plays. One lucky writer’s work will be selected to submit to next summer’s Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, DC, and several others will be chosen to be workshopped and developed for future performances.

We are looking for fresh, original work to stage. The ideal length is approximately 90 minutes. Other than that, the sky’s the limit! Zero Hour will supply all of the funding and resources to make your play as good as it can be.

Please submit any scripts to zerohour.director@gmail.com by September 30 and feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.

We do accept rough drafts as well as completed scripts since there will be plenty of time to work on them, so either format is suitable.

We look forward to reading your play!
